Step by step

1. Enter the Grand Tree through its south door and agree to help King Narnode. He gives you a bark sample and a gnome translation book.
2. Take both items to Hazelmere east of Yanille. Listen to his warning about the human, the king’s seal, and daconia rocks.
3. Return to King Narnode and relay all three parts of Hazelmere’s warning using the translation book.
4. Climb to Glough’s house on the east side of the stronghold and ask him about the suspected human.
5. Tell King Narnode what Glough said. He directs you to Charlie on the top floor of the tree.
6. Climb the tree’s east or west ladder to its first outside platform, then use the west ladder to the upper platform and its door to the top-floor ladder. Speak to Charlie.
7. Return to Glough’s house and search the cupboard for his journal.
8. Show the journal to Glough. He imprisons you in the top-floor cage.
9. Talk to Charlie through the cage to learn the shipyard password, ka-lu-min, then open the cage.
10. Speak to Charlie again and ask to board the glider. It crash-lands on Karamja near the shipyard.
11. At the shipyard gate, give the password ka-lu-min.
12. Question a shipyard foreman about Glough to obtain the timber invoice.
13. Use the shipyard glider to return to the Grand Tree. At the south stronghold gate, ask Femi to hide you among her boxes and move her cart, or pay her 1,000 coins. Then bring the invoice to King Narnode.
14. Speak to Charlie again. He suggests asking Anita about Glough’s key.
15. Find Anita in the eastern tree house and ask for Glough’s chest key.
16. Use Anita’s key on the chest in Glough’s house and take Glough’s notes.
17. Show the notes to King Narnode. Make four inventory spaces for the inscribed pebbles.
18. Climb the watch tower above Glough’s house. Use the four pebbles on the stone stand in the order ho, ni, :::, ha, then push down the stand.
19. Climb into the dungeon and defeat Glough’s level 175 Black Demon before it disappears.
20. Speak to King Narnode in the tunnel, north of the fight.
21. Search the root southwest of the underground king for the daconia rock.
22. Return the daconia rock to the underground king for five quest points, Agility, Attack, and Magic experience, plus glider, Spirit Tree, and Grand Tree mine access.

The game journal confirms quest completion and the first conversation. Game progress can take up to five minutes to appear while you are logged in. Mark the remaining steps as you do them; the game does not save every substep.
